‘Goosebumps’: Jack Black In Talks To Star In Movie Adaptation

The adaptation of R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps is being directed by Rob Letterman. Deborah Forte and Neal H Moritz are producing the movie. Neal H Moritz is the person who helped the “Fast and Furious” franchises’ music to become a blockbuster track. They are getting David Bowers to direct the movie “Clifford, the Big Red Dog” for Universal Studios.

Jack Black is very close to getting back to family fare as he is in negotiations to star in the adaptation of ‘Goosebumps’. Sony Pictures have got the right to the movie already. If at all Black’s deal is done, then he would reunite with Rob Letterman, the director with who he worked for in two of his previous movies. ‘Gulliver’s Travels’ and ‘Shark Tale’ are the two movies.

Reliable sources have reported that Jack Black would play the author whose characters would simply leap off the page. He would be playing a Stine-like author. The characters would force him to hide from his own creations which are extremely creepy.

For long, ‘Goosebumps’ has remained one of the most popular children’s book series ever. It has only been surpassed by ‘Harry Potter’ in total sales. 300 million copies have been sold throughout the world and the book has been published in more than 32 different languages. It was also adapted as a TV series by Scholastic Entertainment. It was telecasted in Fox Kids Network and was rated #1 for the four seasons. It aired in more than 100 countries. The episodes of the TV series returned to the small screen in 2007. It was telecasted on cartoon network and the live-action series also spawned a video game, from the Scholastic franchise.

Hannah Minghella and Elizabeth Cantillon would oversee the movie for the studio. The two of them are former employees of Sony Entertainment.
