In an attempt to revive the popularity of Google+, a number of new features have been launched. The revamped Google+ now has a local review tab. This is for those food lovers who like to go frequently to new restaurants. It is basically a review provided by the Google+ users about the various restaurants they visit. This tab will be placed near your pictures, youtube videos thus enabling user to highlight their favourite restaurants. Though this tab can be easily hidden, but there seems to be an ulterior motive behind the insertion of this tab. It seems that Google will use these reviews in order to enhance it’s own search results.
The Google Plus Makeover also features users to upload bigger cover photos in what Google calls “a better aspect ratio” of 16×9 when expanded. With this move Google seems to be taking a dig at Facebook’s cover photo. Several Facebook users have complained about small and half hidden cover photos. Google+ kept this point in mind and made sure that it’s users are able to view the photos in an expanded way.
A much compact and easily edited “About You” tab is the third interesting feature that Google will add to the Google Plus Makeover. The About tab now features a much cleaner look and makes it easier to analyse the profile. Various colours have been splashed to separate the headings giving it a more lively appearance.
Google has pointed that like most of it’s other features and apps, these changes will roll out slowly. They want to test all these changes perfectly before it is put to final test before the users. It is unclear when the features will make their way to Google’s mobile apps. Google has added “we’re rolling out the new profile throughout the day.”
We just hope that Google makes it a faster transition so the users can avail themselves to the revamped Google Plus Makeover ASAP!
