Built by Google as a rival to the iOS Game Center and Games Hub on Windows Phone, news on Google Play Games started going around sometime last month.
The Android Police found and researched extensively on a new Play Services APK. Play Services is the part of Android you don’t have direct access to, but it has it’s own functions like updating Google apps. It found out what the latest version hasn’t revealed: a huge update that is being prepared for Google Play Games.
Users cannot access it yet, the AP was able to shed light on certain components, such as system wide notifications, cloud synced game saves to work across multiple devices, and standardized notifications managed by Google+. It also consists of different parts that are present in most present-day gaming services, such as matchmaking, leaderboards, achievements, lobbies etc. More details should be revealed next week at the Google I/O.
