Reportedly, after the new Google Maps for Android tablets and smartphones, Google has, now, launched a Google Maps update on iOS. The highlight of the new development is an added support for larger touch-screens on the iPad and iPad Mini.
The new iOS version has enhanced navigation features with live traffic updates, dynamic rerouting and incident reports. It also includes indoor mapping or airports and transit stations. There is also an Explore function to browse and find places via the service and the feature has been integrated with Zagat ratings and deals via Google Offers.
It should be noted that Google launched an overhaul of its Maps service at its IO event in May, and after that, it announced an acquisition of the mobile mapping service Waze for just over $1 billion in June.
The 9to5 Mac reports that the new Google Maps hasn’t been made available in the US yet, but has started rolling out in some parts of Asia.
