Google Glass Display Specifications : Spec Sheet Out

The day started with the news that Google Glass Eyewear is about to ship, and the API documentation was finally out for the developers. The details about the hardware of the device were also posted at the same time. According to the spec sheet the first version of the eyewear will come with a 5 megapixel camera, also capable of recording 720p video. It will feature 12GB of usable storage out of 16GB of the total Flash storage and will be synced with the cloud storage service from Google. It will also have more battery power to last a whole day of typical use.

The Google Glass will work with any phone with the Bluetooth facility. But for now, it seems that the only way to use MMS and GPS through the device is to use the application MyGlass companion that runs only on Android 4.0.3 or higher. The next companion app to work on the platforms other than Android is yet to be disclosed by Google. The most amazing thing about the device is the Google Glass display. It is engineered to have a resolution of a 25inch high-definition screen from a distance of eight feet. It will come with adjustable notepads and durable frame that will enable it to fit on any face. The device also includes Micro USB cable and charger.

Another exiting feature of the Glass is the audio. It will have bone conduction transducer. This transducer uses the bone conduction technology to transmit sound directly from the device to the inner ear through the bones of the skull, eliminating the need of using the irritating headphones anymore. The price for the device has been fixed at $1,500 which seems somewhat balancing with the high technology driven services that it claims to provide.

In the API documentation for the Glass Mirror, Google has mentioned that the applications developed for the device should be structured keeping in mind that they should be perfectly usable with the Glass. The documentation also states that the apps should not interact with the users in a way that might be annoying; the Glass is meant for all day wear so the apps must make the process easy not complex or irritating in any way.
