Real Madrid were defeated 1-0 by their rivals, Atletico Madrid as the visitors continued their winning start to the season.
Gareth Bale was brought on at half time to repair the damage as they were trailing by a goal. Diego Costa’s 11th minute goal ensured Atletico Madrid’s win. Bale wasn’t able to do much in the match.
Atletico have won five successive away league games. This is their best run in the Spanish top flight.
Bale’s debut was impressive against Villarreal. He scored a brilliant goal in the game. He also featured in Real’s win over Galatasaray.
Brazilian striker, Diego Costa scored his 7th goal in atotal of 8 games for Atletico as he netted past Diego Lopez to open the scoring. Atletico should have scored a lot more before going into the break. Real Madrid were struggling to break the attack from the visitors. The derby featured both the sides creating plenty of chances after half-time. Atletico could have scored two more goals, but were denied by the woodwork. Both Tiago and Koke struck the woodwork in the second half.
Alvaro Morata came on as a substitute for Real Madrid and almost leveled it for them with his acrobatic volley from 12 yards out.
It was a thrilling encounter with the deserving team getting the three points.
