Messaging via Apps has picked up as a trend these days with apps like WhatsApp, Line, KakaoTalk, WeChat, Path and Facebook Messenger visible in almost every second Smartphone and feature phone too.
Among all the Sequoia Capital funded entity WhatsApp, has been the market leader since the beginning and has not let any other service to take away the badge from itself. The company was founded way back in 2009 and recent traffic data made them to proudly boast of being bigger network than Twitter with more than 200 million monthly actives, 10 billion messages sent and 17 billion received in a single day.
Well, the good news is the WhatsApp which was a paid one till now for $0.99 on Apple App Store is now been made available for free. Guess they are not taking away annual subscription fee of $1 so easily which will be needed to paid.
With this CEO Jam Koum realised his long ago made promise of abolishing this discrimination where iOS user need to pay whats on free in other platforms like Android, BlackBerry, Nokia and Windows Phone.
