Although Disney launched Chronicles Of Narnia-the series, in 2005 amid great enthusiasm, the films haven’t performed very well in the Box Office. In fact, the Mouse House ended their involvement after the release of their second film, ‘Prince Caspian’. In 2010, when ‘The Voyage Of the Dawn Treader’ didn’t get the returns that were expected out of it, it looked like it would be the end of the franchise. But, the C.S.Lewis Company has struck a new deal with producer Mark Gorden. They aim to bring ‘The Silver Chair’ to the screens.
“Like many avid readers, I love C.S. Lewis’s work. Set in fantasy world, he transports me to Narnia as I read the book. These stories inspire millions of fans throughout the world. As we prepare to bring the next book to the screens, we are happy to contribute to the legacy of Narnia,” Gorden said.
The last three films ended up with a combined $1.6 billion in earnings. It is not surprising that the company would continue trying to get most of their books converted into films. Gordon revealed that the company’s first task would be to find a suitable writer, who could start developing the script before the filming starts.
