According to the reports of Bloomberg, Facebook Inc. the biggest social networking service in the world is in talking terms with the tech giant Apple Inc. about crafting a version of the service particularly for iPhone to boost the number of users accessing Facebook on the small screen. The CEO of the social networking site, Mark Zuckerberg, also approved the talks between the two Inc. but marked it as a part of the great relationship the two giants share. Though there are on-going speculations about Facebook coming into the home screen of iPhone with the popping Chat Head messenger, but, in fact, it is not likely to happen anytime soon.
At the occasion of unveiling of the Home family of apps from the house of Facebook, praising tone for Android’s open structure was echoed in the words of Zuckerberg. He mentioned in his speech that Facebook Home was possible only because of the open structure of the Android. But the case with iOS is quite different. Getting Chat Heads or Facebook Home into iOS needs much more deeper access which does not only need consent but also active cooperation at the part of the Company.
According to Adam Mosseri, the director of product, Facebook Inc., as published by the Bloomberg, the discussion between Facebook and Apple went much beyond their existing relationship. He also speculated that Facebook might try to expand in iOS irrespective of the constraints any application developer faces on the platform. He added that Facebook might work on adding some more value to the OS in the design.
Mosseri also included that Facebook had words with the Microsoft on the same. In this context, Facebook has a deeper integration with Windows Phone, but it is sure to face similar developmental barriers on the Windows platform. In every case, the developers need an in-depth access to the codes of the Operating Systems which is extremely unlikely for companies in talk, to give to a third party. On the contrary, The Next Web has published, according to a reliable source that there was no discussion between the companies about taking Facebook Home to either of the platforms.
