Directorial Debut For Matt Damon To Begin With Movie – A Foreigner

Cinema Blend has been all about Matt Damon today. It began with his comments about Ben Affleck playing the role of new Batman in soon to come Man of Steel sequel. Later, a news came in saying that Matt is joining Christopher Nolan’s cast of Interstellar and just few hours back reports came in to reveal that the actor is prepared to make his directorial debut with a conspiracy thriller – A Foreigner.

The film will be telling the true story of a man down in Guatemala who leaves behind a videotape after his death that implicates the country’s president and first lady, which is based on a New Yorker article titled as ‘A Murder Foretold’, written by David Grann. It is claimed to be adapted from the book written by Chris Terrio, who received near-universal acclamation and won an Academy Award for his Argoscreenplay.

Damon has been eyeing the director’s chair for many years now, but unfortunately the talk really heated up back in 2010 as there was talk saying that he could possibly direct the New York Yankee movie The Trade based on wife swapping. Talks ended up fizzy, but later it was reported that the actor was planning about making the crime comedy Father Daughter Time. Just after he signed his co-star John Krasinski for a lead in the movie, yet, unfortunately the film never came together.

Damon’s directorial debut is the simple fact that he’s had the chance to work with some of the best filmmakers in Hollywood over the course of his career, which claims to be his greatest assets. After claiming that each project he takes on, is like going to film school and if at all that is the case he has had some of the best professors imaginable, having worked with Martin Scorsese, Cameron Crowe, Steven Soderbergh, Paul Greengrass, the Coen brothers, Gus Van Sant, Steven Spielberg and many more has got the created a record for this star.

He’ll carve out a directing career even half as successful as Affleck’s, if Damon is the lucky one. Affleck has completely turned his career around with Gone Baby Gone in 2007 and has only managed to improve with each new feature.

No transformation is needed for Damon’s career, as he remains one of the Hollywood’s most reliable stars when it comes to quality, although it will be captivating to see him enter into a whole new era of his career. While The Trade and Father Daughter Time seemed to plunge apart, analyst really hope A Foreigner will stick and that they’re now only a couple years away from seeing it on the big screen.
