David Villa Bids Goodbye To Spanish National Team

Spain’s World Cup 2014 campaign ended yesterday, thankfully with a 3-0 win over plucky Australia. It was emotional night for the Spanish team as well as their fans, one because they had been ousted from the world cup and two their star player David Villa was playing his last international match. David Villa, Spain’s highest goal-scorer and the hero of their 2010 triumph hanged up his boots yesterday with an amazing goal and some tears.

In his 97 appearances for the squad, he has netted 59 goals, making him the Spain’s highest scorer ever. He wore the iconic no.7 jersey for the team. The 32 year old will be continuing with his club career, playing in for Melbourne City in the A-League until he joins up with his new club New York City FC.
