Cydia, the poular jailbreak software for iOS has hit 23 million users, with 14m for iPhone itself. The software enables users to find and install software packages on jailbroke iOS Apple devices with the help of Cydia jailbreak tool evasiOn.
This tool, which was launched in February, was a big hit amongst users, with a large number of people tweeting about it the day it was to be released. The news was confirmed by Cydia and it’s creator Jay Freeman, via Twitter @pod2g.
The account posted the following tweet on the statistics :
“New statistic from @saurik: 14,051,500 unique devices have been seen running Cydia on iOS 6.x! 14 millions! and 23 millions any version.”
But recent reports suggest that Apple is said to be working on a new iOS system patch, which will fill a number of holes that evasiOn is able to exploit. This would lower down the number of users of the software.
But according to evaders member, the team that develops the tool evasi0n, will start all over again from the beginning if the new system patch stops the tool from working.
