Google has been known to test the patience of those loyal to the firm. Back in February 2012, the tech giants had unveiled the Chromebook Pixel LTE. 12th April proved lucky for some users. Those who ordered the device from Google Play would have received the Chromebook Pixel on the auspicious day. Google had confirmed 12th April as the day when the Chromebook pixxel starts shipping.
Chromebook Pixel LTE boasts of a 12.85″ touchscreen and a high resolution 2560×1700 display. Those who did not mind spending a minimum $1,449 for the LTE version over at the Google Play had not seen the device for over a year.
At the time of the announcement, Google said the LTE version would begin shipping the first week of April — and that it’s also only available in the US.
Specifications of the Chromebook pixel aren’t particularly noteworthy. The LTE version starts off with 4GB of DDR3 RAM, 64GB solid state drive, and three years of free access to 1TB of Google Drive cloud storage. But in terms of screen, it is often referred to as a high end device.
It is believed that Google is trying to create a device for the population in the higher strata. The motive being to make the Chromebook line does not appear like a cheap knockoff. In a world full of tablets, an LTE version of a flagship laptop product thus makes sense. What is to be noted is whether Google can make the Chrome line a success.
