Captain Philips Trailer Is Going Viral Across The Internet

A new international trailer for Columbia Pictures’ Captain Phillips has come online and can be watched using the player below.

Columbia Pictures’ Captain Philips’ new international trailer has released online and is being watched by thousands of viewers all over the world. The film stars Tom Hanks and Catherine Keener in the male and female leads respectively. Other prominent actors part of this film are , Yul Vazquez, David Warshofsky, Max Martini, Angus MacInnes, Michael Chernus, John Magaro, Corey Johnson, David Warshofsky and John Magaro. This thriller is directed by Paul Greengrass. It is set to hit the theaters on October 11, 2013.

Infact, this film is about a real-life story of Captain Richard Philips and hijacking incident by the Somali pirates in 2009. The pirates attached MV Maersk Alabama, which was US flagged. Incidentally, this happened to be the first American cargo ship to be attacked and hijacked in almost two hundred years.

Tom Hanks’ role in the movie is of utmost significance. Apparently, in one of the scenes, he is stuck in a vast ocean and tries to escape from the Somalian pirates. He screams at the top of his voice, but nobody is able to hear him. The scene was shot in the Pacific Ocean and the crew had to ensure that the shadow of the cameras or any other equipment doesn’t affect the shooting. The film is simultaneously releasing in Japanese as well, with the trailer garnering a lot of views in the recent past.

This real life story depicts Captain Richard Philips along with his crew taken hostage by the Somalian pirates. The 2009 hijacking incident was one of the worst in history because it involved the heavily-armed pirates. The frightening agony of being held as hostages lasted for five days.

The movie promises to be a pulse-pounding thriller and at the same time, show the endless suffering of the captain and the crew who have been taken hostage.
