Butler To Be Bodhi In Point Break Remake – Reports

After a long talks and planning to make a sequel idea into a remake of Point break written by Kurt Wimmer promised its release by appointing The Fast and Furious cinematographer Ericson Core to direct last year. Now the movie took another leap by hiring Gerard Butler as one of the leading roles for the project.

The Hollywood Reporter stated, Butler who managed to show off his skills last year with Olympus Has Fallen and is all set for sequel London Has Fallen, is negotiating to take over Patrick Swayze’s iconic central part of Bodhi, zen leader of a crime ring responsible for several daring heists. While many of the plot elements will remain the same, including Bodhi’s bonding with an FBI agent named Johnny Utah who moves his gang, the movie is said to focus on new extreme sports in addition to surfing and sky diving as in the original. There was no news of the replacement for the Utah role which was given by Keanu Reeves in Katherine Bigelow’s 1991 film.

Action and surfing on the screen is not a new task for Butler, after he played real-life wave-catcher Frosty Hesson in 2012’s Chasing Mavericks.

The biggest challenge is to compensate Swayze on Hot Fuzz’s Danny Butterman, the one who took Butler’s role in the original movie for its OTT sequences and often entertaining dialogue.
