It has been officially announced that Ben McKenzie (“Southland,” “The O.C.”) will replace Gary Oldman for the role of Detective James Gordon in FOX and Warner Bros.
According to DC Comics, “Gotham” is a drama which would traverse the origin stories of Commissioner James Gordon and the villains that made Gotham famous.
McKenzie himself took to Twitter to add his own thoughts:

Bruno Heller (“The Mentalist,” “Rome”) will be the executive producer. Danny Cannon (“CSI,” “Nikita”) will direct and executive produce the pilot.
