BBM On Android And iOS To Be Available From June 27th, According To T-Mobile

Everyone (or at least iOS and Android users) is waiting for the release of BBM on Android and iOS. And now, according to a tweet from T-Mobile, the release date is June 27th. That’s what everyone believed, until BlackBerry denied it and said that no exact date has been decided yet. “That date is completely inaccurate; we have never indicated a specific date,” said a BlackBerry representative in response to the tweet. BlackBerry also released the following statement:

On May 14th, BlackBerry announced plans to make its ground-breaking mobile social network, BlackBerry Messenger (BBM), available to iOS and Android users this summer, subject to approval by the Apple App Store and Google Play. While there have been reports that BBM will be available to iOS and Android on June 27th, this is not accurate. We will communicate an update as soon as we have an availability date to share.

The tweet by T-Mobile has been taken down now, even though there must have been some actual reason behind them posting it in the first place. So, we can (hopefully) expect the release of BBM on Android and iOS around that time. T-Mobile, after it took down the initial tweet, posted another one with an apology.

The company doesn’t seem too worried about BlackBerry users switching to iOS and Android, as everyone else seems to believe they will. “”We don’t feel like that is a risk,” Kristian Tear (Chief Operating Officer, BlackBerry) told CNET. “Obviously, if we did, we might have acted differently.”
