| With the Awards season all over this weekend, the 20th annual Screen Actors Guild awards were given out. There were quite a few astonishing prizes, and American Hustle went home with the main prize for film.
Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto walked away with Actor and Supporting Actor respectively for Dallas Buyers Club. McConaughey delivered one of the night’s longest speeches, and the Leading actress winner was bagged by Blue Jasmine’s Cate Blanchett, to in a jovial manner redicules McConaughey for talking that long.
12 Years A Slave‘s Lupita Nyong’o was a pleasant change from Jennifer Lawrence’s near clean sweep in the Supporting Actress category, and shared a funny story about calling her dad to tell him she’d gotten the part and asking if he knew Brad Pitt. “I don’t know him personally,” he’d replied, “but I’m glad you got a job…”
Coming to TV-Shows, Bryan Cranston went home with his first SAG award for Breaking Bad, while the show’s ensemble got that gong. The Modern Family also got its hand over the awards with Family’s Ty Burrell as Lead Actor and Julia Louis Dreyfus winning Comedy Actress for Veep. An absent Dame Maggie Smith won the dramatic award for Downton Abbey.
