Working on the current stats, which suggests that today 8 out of 10 users do not have internet on their phone. So Twitter will be accessed by the users having no internet.
According to the reports, Twitter along with the Singapore Company U2opia Mobile, is working on this current project. The service is expected to launch in the first quarter of next year. Ater the launch all you have to do is to dial a code on your device to get a feed of the popular trending topics on Twitter.
Reuters are saying that it will work similar to how Twitter worked at its inception back in 2006. If we see the extent of using U2opia’s Fonetwish service, its around 11 million in number, as it had offered access to Facebook and Google Talk on mobile devices without an Internet connection.
“For a lot of end users in the emerging markets, it’s going to be their first Twitter experience,” U2opia CEO and co-founder Sumesh Menon told Reuters. Currently U2opia’s services are available in 7 different languages and across 30 countries.
