The year 2013 was a phenomenal year for games on Kickstarter, with over 4,000 projects launched within the Games category, bringing in more than $106 million in pledges since January 1st.
It is a major increase from last year, when the 2,796 projects launched within the Games class accumulated $83 million in pledges. The growth could seem odd if you, like me, do not bear in mind as many huge games coming back through Kickstarter in 2013 -though this year’s huge crowd funded success stories embrace Mighty No. 9, Torment: Tides of Numen Era and Chalice-however it seems possible that the unexpectedly large success of many diversion Kickstarters in 2012-as well as Double Fine’s Broken Age- earned the crowd funding platform a good deal of attention from each players and developers in 2013.
Hopefully this trend continues in 2014 as well.
