“The Wii U Is An Entirely New System, Not An Upgrade”- Nintendo

Believe it or not, there are quite a few people who think there isn’t much difference between Wii and Wii U- they actually think the Wii U is just an upgrade to Wii or a Wii with a pad.

Just last week, the company’s president, Satoru Iwata had a few things to say on this subject. “Some have the misunderstanding that the Wii U is just Wii with a pad for games. Others even consider Wii U GamePad as a peripheral device connectible to Wii.” Nintendo doesn’t quite like where this is going, and obviously wants to clear all doubts. Therefore all Wii consoles connected to the internet received a notification with a message from the company. “The Wii U is the all-new home console from Nintendo. It’s not just an upgrade-it’s an entirely new system that will change the way you and your family experience games and entertainment.” The message mentions that the users’ accessories will work on the new console as well.
