Lee Daniels Explains Why Jimmy Carter Got Left Out Of The Butler

Lee Daniels’ fourth feature “The Butler” was his most ambitious story. Daniels’, a former casting director and producer, said that he had made many efforts to sell this film overseas, resulting in having a huge Oscar Buzz.

But why did he leave Jimmy Carter out? According to his views, it would have felt too episodic and he had to skip over some of the presidents. He said, “I tried really hard to make it cinematic so that it didn’t seem like I was trying to tell a history lesson or a miniseries or a movie of the week about what happened in the White House.”

He told that with John it was about making nuances of the presidents and not creating caricatures of them, and he elaborated by saying that we are dealing with great actors, means actors who are incredibly talented & good.
