IE11 Has Finally Returned To The Browser Game

Internet Explorer was a browser which most of the users hate as Microsoft didn’t gave much importance to it and it remained bad for so long. But, now with the new Windows 8.1, Microsoft finally came up with new IE 11, which deserves a new outlook from everybody.

During the discussion of IE11, Microsoft didn’t give much information about it. But, they believed that the fact that it only has to focus on one platform allows it to build a superior browser. Other browsers have to work on so many platforms and that means the developers have to make too many compromises.

Microsoft is arguing that IE11 can include fast hardware-accelerated features like WebGL and even significantly faster font rendering. Without using the standard Java-script, Microsoft is now proudly using the usual Kraken, Octane and Sun Spider numbers on the screen. This has given an impressive result and it easily beats off Chrome and Firefox in all the tests conducted, as Microsoft believed in real word performance.

IE 11 has come out with some interesting features. One such feature is the new pinned sites feature in Start Menu. This app allows all sites to create an app-like experience on the Windows 8.1 desktop. The browser is now integrated with the new Reading list featured in Windows 8.1.

Microsoft is now trying to focus on a browser with touch and pointer events to make it a W3C standard for all browsers.

Though IE11 has come up with new apps, it doesn’t mean to be perfect. But it shows the support only for WebGL and SPDY and not to WebRTC. The Metro/Windows 8-style version of IE is also still decoupled from the desktop version. It’s also still not clear whether IE11 will ever come to Windows 7, though Microsoft pretty clearly hinted at this during its Build press briefing.

Clearly, Microsoft has laid its new IE11 in the browser game, though it is not a dominant player like before. But it still owns a lot of market share around the world. This new move of Microsoft is likely to make a better environment for IE among the people.
