The applications for Kinect have been opened by Microsoft for the kit program of windows developer. The program will begin sometime in November 2013. It will be providing tools to the developers. In addition to it, it will also provide a sensor for pre-release in order to initiate the coding procedure and to build applications. It is expected to be completed before the release of the console in 2014. The applications will not be opening till 31st July. It will be launched along with the fee for this program, that will be set for US $399.
The program is supposed to offer private support for the engineering team of Windows. This support is meant for Kinect. It will also be allowing the early access of SDK along with the updates. The API will be allowing private access as well as sample documentation. The final and the alpha sensor will also be available at the launch. The spots are limited in numbers that are specially made available for this program. The company will also begin to contact some of the successful applicants in the month of August.
There were many privacy concerns that have been raised for Kinect especially for Xbox One. But the representative of Microsoft has also confirmed that the sensor for Kinect can be completely turned off. Implications for the potential breach have raised many concerns. It is related to the privacy of the device that remains open all the time. This has also been equipped along with the advanced camera. It will also comprise of an array of microphone. This will establish a continued connection to internet. You will also be able to switch on the console through voice command.
This has finally suggested that the sensors for Kinect will always be listening. This will happen even if the console is in a standby mode.
