Apple Striving To Trademark Their Term ‘Startup’ In Australia

Submitting a second attempt after failing previously in 2011, Apple is leaving no stone unturned in its efforts to seek the trademark for the term ‘startup’ in Australia.

TM Watch claims that, the ‘startup’ application was submitted on August 27 by Cupertino headquarters of Apple and Baker & McKenzie, which is a Sydney-based legal representative that covers a number of retail, computing, mobile and educational classes.

It could be interpreted as a fact that the official Apple website terms its operating system boot-up as ‘startup’ because Apple is seen showing persistence in trade marking ‘startup’.

Apple also attempted to do the same in the US in 2011, in addition to filing for the ‘startup’ trademark in Australia. On the other hand, the US Patent and Trademark Office was not able to register the trademark after it found issues with the application and are requested for further information before proceedings.

Given that Apple will be busy in its September 10 event; Apple still has time till September 20 to respond.
